Daniel W. Green, MD, MS, FAAP, FACS
Daniel Green, MD, MS, FAAP, FACS, is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). He is also currently director and founding member of the Pediatric Division’s Sports Program at HSS.
Dr. Green has established himself in pediatric sports medicine, specifically knee injuries and pediatric knee surgery, with over 80% of his surgical practice focused on knee surgery in the child and adolescent. He is an author of more than 100 articles and a dozen book chapters on conditions of the knee. Dr. Green has taken care of young athletes involved in the highest level of a variety of sports, and understands the emotional impact associated with sports injuries. Athletes from around the region, country, and outside the US who compete at the highest level of sports from regional all-star teams, high performance national teams, and even Olympic athletes have sought Dr. Green’s professional medical advice and opinion. Dr. Green typically follows his athlete patients through their college career and has even had the opportunity to follow some into their professional career. Dr. Green is credentialed as a team physician by the FIVB (Federation Internationale De Volleyball) and provides medical coverage for the USA Women’s National Volleyball Team.

Dr. Green has over 20 year’s experience of managing difficult fractures and injuries of children and adolescents. He currently provides emergency treatment of pediatric fractures and orthopedic emergencies at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Green is actively involved as a faculty and leader in AO North America and AO International, one of the few organizations that educates surgeons from around the world regarding the surgical treatment of pediatric fractures. After being nominated by the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America, Dr. Green became a member of the US Government’s Medical Specialty Enhancement Team (MSET). This program links pediatric orthopedic surgeons to federal disaster medical teams when needed during disaster response.
